Crescent Lake Junction Tractor Trailer Towing Company Rescues 2,000 Turkeys

“Where is the meat?!” Thanksgiving is only a few days away and turkey is in hot demand for everyone’s dinner table. But when the turkey gets stranded up on a mountain pass, which professional tractor trailer towing company will you call? With high expectations of a tasty meal, who is going to rescue the turkeys in time for Thanksgiving dinner!?! Puddle Jumper Towing and Recovery to the rescue!

Puddle Jumper’s tractor trailer towing team received a frantic call for a semi stuck on the mountain pass near Crescent Lake Junction, Oregon on Highway 58 near mile marker 56. While it is not uncommon for us to receive calls for tractor trailer towing assistance, this job proved to be critical to save the Thanksgiving holiday. This is because the truck was carrying 2,000 turkeys!

Upon arrival at the scene, our semi towing team set up in icy and snowy conditions and got straight to work. It appeared that the truck had a blown transmission that made it inoperable, especially with the inclement weather conditions. Fortunately, we brought our 50-ton heavy wrecker and a 4-wheel drive support vehicle with extra tools, equipment, and traffic safety accessories to get the job done safely and efficiently.

Originally, the customer wanted the truck and trailer combination towed 70 miles back to a repair facility in Eugene, Oregon. However, in order to expedite turkey delivery, we suggested we pull the truck and trailer up the hill about 800 feet to a wider spot. Here, we dropped the trailer.

Then, our tractor trailer towing team brought the truck back to the repair facility. In the meantime, the support truck operator brought the turkey truck driver back down the mountain to grab a rental truck. With the turkeys at risk of spoiling, we all worked as quickly, yet safely, as possible to get the turkeys to their destination for the holidays.

With our quick thinking and equipment, the turkeys were back on the road within 1.5 hours. Overall, the job took a total of just under four hours.
